Holy Spirit

Is the Holy Spirit still in us?

Don, Did the Holy Spirit depart from Christians in AD 70 or does the Holy Spirit indwell faithful Christians today? Do you have any biblical proofs that this is true? I do not see any miracles being performed by Christians today, so I think the Spirit has been taken away and replaced with Christ alone dwelling in our hearts.

  1. When Adam sinned what happened? He broke the bond of father-son relationship, his conscience condemned him and he hid from his father. He died spiritually; therefore God used mediators, prophets, priests, the nation of Israel (middle-men) to mediate between the two parties until the time of reconciliation. Mankind needed to be reconciled to their father. Jesus reconciled mankind once again and after he completed his mission as mediator (priest) he destroyed any and all middle men that sat in position of power at the right hand of the KING, and he sat down in the midst of the throne as KING. The Queen refers to a position of power, second in command, mediating between her king and her people. The Hebrew assigns gender to all persons, places and things, thus male and female have no relation to sex but to the positive and negative attributes of the Creator. It takes both poles of polarity to empower, create or light up anything. Creation itself testifies to this truth. The Holy Spirit is God’s breath, his word and Jesus is the Holy Spirit. 2 Cor 3:17. We have no need for mediators, middle men, if we are reconciled to our father as he alone is our TEACHER. Matt 23:8-10; 2 Cor 3:17. That’s not to say that we can’t learn from others but that we should not elevate them above us, giving them spiritual authority over us. Those filled with the Holy Spirit spoke the words (breath) of God as they did not have bibles. Miracles were performed in a physical manner as types to show the nation of Israel that God loves all mankind and shows no partiality. The antitype is spiritual and the ‘greater works’ that we do are spiritual because we have the full measure of God, not just an occasional burst of physical manifestation of the power and glory of our Lord and Savior. Be blessed.
